Free WrapMail for Google Apps for Business

Many companies move to having their emails hosted by Google in Google Apps for Business. This way users get access to all the features of Google Apps and the ease of the gmail interface. Setting up a free WrapMail account could not be easier, simply go to the website and click on “Sign Me Up for FREE” and then create your wrap in the WrapMaker found in your WrapMail Dashboard. WrapMail even offers to make your first custom wrap for free based on your website! Then, when your wrap has been made it is very simple to get started; just log into your Google Business Apps account and go to “Service Settings”, click on “email” and enter in WrapMail’s server in the “Outbound Gateway” box and send emails. They will all arrive in the wrap you chose so recipients see your images and can click on these to go to various parts of your website. WrapMail even reports clicks right back to your inbox! WrapMail is also compatible with Google Analytics so you can track the effectiveness of your emails also there.

WrapMail approved by Google Analytics and listed in the Google directory

WrapMail was just approved by Google for inclusion in the Google Analytics Application/Product Marketplace. The listing can be found here

WrapMail has for long been listed in the Google Apps Marketplace with both the Business and Educational email marketing solution.

Companies invest a great deal in their website which is often the only “store” where they showcase products and services. The challenge is to drive people to the website but as we all know, more people in the store will typically lead to more sales. Corporate employees send emails every day to clients, prospects, friends and others but these are plain emails that do not generate any traffic to the website.
WrapMail offers a solution that does not require any installation but that seamlessly adds interactive letterheads (designed by the client) to every outgoing email so that each and every one becomes a promotional piece for the company and when clicked delivers the reader to the website. Furthermore the solution tracks the clicks and reports who is clicking on what and when (also in real time), turning the system into a research tool.
This “hidden” advertising medium is probably the most viral available and the least costly, WrapMail only charges $5 per user per month (and a one-time signup charge of $150 which includes a custom wrap).

The Wrap can be linked back to the sender’s unique web site, blog, or the corporate site. When the Wrap is clicked, the system will report who is clicking on the sender’s Wrap and when. With an estimated 15 million people in the U.S. involved in network marketing and more than 68 million worldwide, we thought this was a natural product for us to launch. Additionally, given the current economic conditions, we expect the activity in MLMs to increase and WrapMail Lite is a very inexpensive tool for independent reps to use to grow their business.

Wrap it up and stay tuned for more updates!

WrapMail, web statistics and Google Analytics

WrapMail offers full reporting as far as what recipients are clicking on what element of a wrap (a wrap is the html surrounding the text that is delivered via a server so clients do not need to install software on any desktop or cell phone).

In addition to the reporting offered through WrapMail’s control panel clients can also find WrapMail’s unique links (that all start with t0.wrapmail if shared solution) in the referrer list when they check their website statistics using any statistics tool including Google Analytics.

regular emails deliver website traffic

regular emails deliver website traffic

Statistics will show how many new visitors were driven to the clients website directly from a sent email. For those who are not WrapMail clients these statistics are not available/possible.

We all send emails every day, why not use them to promote our own business?

Letter to Governor Charlie Crist

Governor:

I read in the Sun Sentinel on almost a daily basis how more funding is needed for the public school system and believe that I have an “outside the box” solution. I have always been an entrepreneur of sorts and as such look for alternative ways to make money. When I look at government anywhere in the world then the mentality is pretty one of “taking money” – read: tax. I would love somebody in Government to look at the other side of the equation: make money. All government institutions have opportunities to make money, some in more obvious ways than others and deploying such new ideas combined with more efficiency could result in lower taxes, better schools and happier people.

You notice how this email is “wrapped” in an interactive letterhead which consist of images with embedded links to various portions of our website. WrapMail currently performs this service for Broward College and every email sent from faculty or staff brands the college, promotes the many different educational programs, the foundation etc and links back to various portions of BC’s website. The basic principle behind WrapMail (which has been developed in-house in our Fort Lauderdale headquarter) is to connect two obvious dots: organizations have websites and employees that send emails. WrapMail turns every email into a branding tool for the organization, drives people to the website AND turns into a research tool as the system matches up sender and receiver when a link is clicked (telling our clients who is interested in what and when). WrapMail is server based so nothing is installed on any desktop or cell phone, i.e. senders have no new routines to learn.

Here’s where I’d like to connect the opening statement and the quick overview of WrapMail and Broward College:

BC has about 2,000 faculty and staff, in addition they have close to 150,000 student email accounts.

The NEW idea: Solicit advertising from major corporations to be in the BC wrap. Imagine what it would be worth to say, Apple, to be featured in every external email sent from broward.edu. We believe it is worth about $5.00 per click or 5 cents per impression. The reason these ads are worth much more than banner ads is the fact that they appear in an email between people that know each other. WrapMail is not a mass email system, it is all about using the emails employees send every day anyway – why not use these to promote your own organization. Another potential advertiser in the BC wrap is also very obvious: The State of Florida.

The numbers:

BC sends about 200,000 emails daily
5 cents per impression of one advertisement: $10,000 daily “revenue” or $2.5M per year (and that’s only for one advertisement).
Even with some hefty discounts this could become a major funding source for Broward College.

Imagine rolling this program out to all public educational institutions in Florida.

WrapMail would be willing to provide the technology for free against sharing the advertising revenue.

There’s more: you will notice on the bottom of this email that there’s an amber alert for a Florida missing child. We feed these alerts automatically into all of our emails to increase the impressions of missing kids in the hope that more visibility increases the chances of finding them.

The bottom line is that I wanted to make you aware of our little technology company down here in Fort Lauderdale and how this technology combined with some outside the box thinking could provide great opportunities for the entire State.

I would love to discuss this in more detail so feel free to contact me at any time.

Thank you

Positioning & the iPhone

There has been a great deal of talk about the iPhone – how revolutionary it is, the latest version and of course competitors to it.  The iPhone is beginning to take a chunk of the Smart Phone category away from BlackBerry.  Additionally, much of the recent press has been about the competition releasing devices to combat the iPhone and how great the devices are, blah, blah, blah.  I have some bad news for the competition.  They will never surpass the iPhone in popularity.  I am not saying this because I am an Apple loyalist (I do not own an iPhone).  I am saying this because it is law.  It is part of the laws of “Positioning” which in marketing-speak is to say that the iPhone has captured the “first-mover” position in the minds of consumers.  In addition to their superior operating system, which the competition cannot copy, they have created the perception of innovation with the iPhone as it relates to what consumers were used to.

All that said, the iPhone will most likely never supplant BlackBerry as the number one Smart Phone either and will remain the #2 in the category.  But, the competition will never supplant the iPhone and what it has done in terms of its market share.  The iPhone will however, be the #1 touch screen phone, if it already isn’t. Remember when the iPod came out and was subsequently followed by all the iPod killers like the Zune? Umm, where’s the Zune now?  Same law is in effect.  First mover, combined with innovation, from a company that has the ability to let customers know about new products will always own the mind of the consumer.

WrapMail will abide by the same law.  We have the first-mover advantage and have created innovation to the most frequently used business communication tool there is – email. Much like the iPhone did for Smart Phones, we will benefit from the same transformation in consumer thinking and perception about email marketing and how to use ‘everyday’ emails to communicate to customers and prospects.

Spam filters are obsolete

SPAM or Unsolicited Bulk Email (UBE) is a common inconvenience for e-mail users. UBE-filters are supposed to catch problematic messages that the filter believes is unwanted for the end user. It would be an equivalent to having someone go through all your snail mail and then decide what you should get and what should go directly to trash. The UBE filters look for many different things such as key words, pictures, links and the combination thereof. The main problem with UBE is impersonation and the best solution on the market today is something called SPF (Sender Policy Framework), also known as Sender ID. SPF is a statement that resides in the domain record and ONLY the administrator of a domain can alter this statement, spammers can NOT! All leading UBE-filters look for the SPF statement and more and more emails are being deleted based upon the lack of such a statement.

The UBE-filters normally have a setting to detect the SPF but if this is not turned on then emails with, for example, a logo in the signature or several links in the text might get deleted or sent to UBE folder even though the sender is known and accepted to/by the recipient.

SPF is CRUCIAL for everyone in the immediate future as the lack thereof will lead to more and more emails NOT being delivered to the intended recipient and this WITHOUT notice to the sender! The bottom line is that nothing is perfect and nobody should trust mail or email 100% and it is therefore just plain common sense to follow up on important emails (actually a good reason to touch base is to ask ”did you get my email?”)

The world is moving towards more pictures and links in emails and thus it becomes of the utmost importance to ”authorize” the sender which the SPF statement does. 90+% of all spam is impersonation, easily detected by verifying the sender. Furthermore most spam today does NOT contain pictures but just text.

If we only verified that the sender is authentic then why have any filters that look for anything else? If an authentic sender starts sending junk then the human recipient can easily put the sender on their junk list as opposed to leaving that decision to a filter that works off faulty logic.

WrapMail’s email delivery assurance system

WrapMail has a system to secure delivery of all emails. When someone receives a wrapped email for the very first time this system also sends a text-only duplicate of the email. This is to counteract those email filters that simply ignore sender verification but looks for images and/or links and judges the email to be spam or junk based on this. The text-only copy arrives just like any other non-enhanced email and will have the following two lines on the bottom:

THIS IS A DUPLICATE EMAIL – PLEASE LOOK FOR A WRAPPED VERSION AND IF YOU HAVE IT CLICK HERE TO STOP FUTURE DUPLICATES.

IF YOU ONLY FIND THIS TEXT VERSION THEN CLICK HERE AND YOU WILL ONLY GET PLAIN TEXT EMAILS FROM ME IN THE FUTURE

The words “HERE” will be linked and a click on the first “HERE” results in no more duplicates while a click on the second “HERE” results in this user being added to a recipient exclusion list and will receive text-only emails in the future. If the recipient does not click on either “HERE” nor clicks on the WrapMail client’s wrap then the system will keep sending duplicates until one of these actions is taken.
